I was only 8 or 9 and my freind had a yamaha 125 dirt bike. Don't exactly remember how I learned but Ive been riding ever since.

I do remeber my brother trying to teach my dad though.
Well it went kind of like this....

OK Dad, let out the clutch nice and slow....
Next thing I know my Dad is flying through the front yard doing a wheelie spraying turf all over the place and screamin'for his life.
When he put the wheel down and managed to turn back towards the house he dumped it in the front hedges by the house.
Kurt was a little upset to say the least.

Upon later examination of the helmet & the house there was a white stripe on the top of the helmet and a red stripe on the house behind the hedges.

In regards to teaching your girlfriend

I would suggest sitting behind her on a bench seat and kind of reach around and show her the controls.

This may be beneficial to both of you.
