Take her to the deserted roads near the orchards in Riverside or Redlands. There is no traffic and if she wrecks your Lamby, it is easier to stash her body! Seriously though, I think that is the best place to learn. I have taught several of my girlfriends to ride there and it can be a very good experience. You should teach her the hand motions - letting off the clutch slowly as she eases the throttle – this coordination is probably the hardest to learn. You can sit behind her and work the controls while letting her keep her hands over yours. That way she can feel how it works. Once she can take off from a stop, she can proceed to learn the gear operation, the brakes, etc. Also teach her that all she has to do to stop the power from going to the wheels is pull in the clutch. Stay on back of the bike with her and help with the controls until she is ready to take over. Once she has the basics and is able to ride on her own, send her to a MSF class. You might want to take it with her.
