Lammy Hub Q.

When we reassembled the Jet 200 last month, we noticed the back wheel was a bit wobbly. when we removed the hub, we found all the axle splines were fine, but the hub was a bit rough. can we just polish up the keyways and refit the hub? Are there any precautions we should take? will just a file do?
