there is a difference between a drinkable hot you would expect in getting a beverage and something that gives you third degree burns and requires skin grafts.

if you boil your water to 212 then you are exceeding the proper temperature of 185 to 205 degrees for coffee making according to the national coffee association. your burning your grounds and making a bitter cup of coffee with that french press of yours.
