"New GT200 model?"

Hi there,
I live in Oz and am thinking of purchasing a GT200.
However a friend told me to hold off for a few months as there is a new model coming out.
Can anyone confirm if a new model is due out in Australia in a few months? or point me in a direction where I can find some more info?
Cheers,
grabbie

   Hi grabbie,

I'm also from Oz and bought a GT200 a couple of months ago and I love it!
A new model? the current one has'nt been around all that long, Vespa don't seem to change models very quickly.
Where did you hear that? it wasn't the 'new' px 150 was it.

Cheers John

   >I believe you're speaking of the X9...by Piaggio. Avaialble soon in US, available currently Europe. Go to Piaggio's (not VESPA's) website. http://www.piaggio.com/
Good luck.

There's a lot of speculation about Piaggio putting their new "Quasar" 250 engine from the new X9 in to a GT.

But that's all it is, speculation. There's been zero evidence to back it up as yet.

No offense, but this sounds like some serious wishful thinking. I admit though, I wish it would happen, too.

I just bumped into a guy at a service station and as we were chatting about his scooter I mentioned my interest in a GT200.
He was the one who said to hold off on the purchase for a few months.
He may have been confused?
Jon in Oz how have you found your GT200 so far? What colour did you go for?
Cheers,
Grabbie

They're gonna bump the BV200 to the BV250, maybe that's what you heard? or your buddy heard?

Grabbie I probably don't have the widespread experience of scooters to give a more detached opinion, however, my first scooter was an Aprilia Scarbeo it served its purpose but was too sloww and underpowered (50cc)so a step up to the gt is like chalk & cheese. the Gt is so easy to ride, smooth acceleration no jerking, plenty of power, great brakes, seems to be no drop in power with a pillion and looks good! I,m sure other scooters can offer much the same, but its a Vespa and its a keeper. (its smoky grey, looks great)
Good Luck with your decision.
cheers John

I dunno about a new "model" but the title of origin on my new GT says that it's a 2005... seems a little early but... eh, that's what it says

I purchased it from Vespa Pittsburgh

I may be wrong but I think with auto's, in the U.S. at least, the new model year begins in april.
So anything manufactured after feb is the 'next year's model'
I have an '00' toyota tundra but it's build date is september 99.
it must be the same with scoots.

the 250cc blender in the GT is all rumor and wishful thinking at this point. IF (and that's a BIG *IF) the GT sees an increase in engine size it'll be under a different engine series (most likely the MASTER) and IF (again with the big IF) that happens, it'll be italy first and then everybody else.
figure, 9mo at the VERY earliest and who could deny themselves that long?
buy a 200cc GT, by the time anything else comes out you'll have won enuff tickets at the arcade to get the new one.

I would love the GT with the MASTER 500. That would be one hell of a machine.
