"Velocifero?"

I have an opportunity to buy an Italjet Velocifero, with some engine mods. What is the general reputation of this scooter? Reliability? Other suggestions for 1500-$2000 range for a 50cc?
Thanks,
Mike

Also parts are hard to get, or at least that's what I've heard.

They get a bad rap but a good one is both fun and reliable. Parts are impossible to fing, though.
