"Bad vendor, beware!"

I would like to hear from anyone who has had dealings with one Adam Wade. This guy has operated under the business names of "Juicy Motors", "Campus Scooters", "Wade Worldwide Wholesale", and likely others all listed with the address of 1630 Banbury, Birmingham, MI 48009, with a phone number of 877-750-2955 and/or 248-341-0715. His e-mail address is "awade@ww-wholesale.com". So far I have documented proof of blatant false advertising (claims on E-bay for the Strada scooter he sold me: "This scooter is the fastest 150cc scooter available. This bike goes 70mph out of the box. You can expect it to break 80mph once it is broken in.") The scooter I got from Adam Wade has a top speed of 55 mph (it has been broken in per manufacturer specs), but only if you are going down hill with calm winds. After more than 10 weeks of frustration and non-returned phone calls, I have now talked to the US division of the manufacturer of the Strada, JMStar Powersports Inc, who tell me that they (the manufacturer) only claim speeds of up to 60 mph. I also talked with the owner of the US distributor, New Era Trans, and he claims only top speeds of 60-65 mph. In both cases they believe that there may be a carberator problem with my Strada, and New Era Trans has agreed to help me out with it. However Adam Wade, who sold it to me under false claims, has also not been of any help in rectifying the situation nor returning calls.

So I would like to contact others who have had any dealings with Adam Wade. If you or someone you know has, please e-mail me at chuck.long@pnl.gov.

JMStar does not make the strada. PowerSportsFactory(com) is the US importer for Strada scooters. As far as I can tell these are one of two things; either knock offs or the first batch imported. I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble. Atleast ebay has buyers protection as should your CC company. I hope this gets resolved for you.

You are correct, Powersports Factory is the US company which imports the Strada scooter. They are excellent to deal with (they are one of my suppliers so I should know) It just goes to prove what I tell prospective customers every day #1 know/find out about the dealer you plan on buying from, talk to former customers before you order. #2 Cheapest is not always best. You may save a buck or 2 up front then good uck getting any folow up support or parts later.

I would just like to clarify that while I am in fact Adam Wade, I am not the same Adam Wade that is the subject of this posting. I am Adam Wade(www.ponyexpressrecord.com), the drummer of several independant rock bands and am in no way involved in the scooter retail business. I would however be interested in owning one. I guess I won't be dealing with Adam Wade... Too bad.

Talk about bad vendors, hope you don't make the same mistakes we did and deal with Verucci unless you want a complete piece of junk and absolutely no parts or service from their so called distributors. First I made the mistake of purchasing two of these pieces of junk from Jim Pizza of Motorsports of America. Upon returing to our shop and assembing the scooters, the main kick stand broke immediately on the 150cc at the weld to the frame. Then the fuse blew and the alarm failed which had to be bypassed to get the thing going. It was two weeks later and both the vacuum valves failed due to no manual shut off and what for a filter? Nothing. Called Jim to complain and he hung up the phone on us and said we were stupid. This is his way of saying I only sell boxes and don't know a damn thing about what they do. If you need service, take a hike because there's no way I'll help you out. So in his meat head manner he calls me stupid. And he's right I was stupid. Stupid to ever buy anything from this sleazy outfit.
By the way it took about thirty phone calls to finally get a hold of him.
But get this part. His partner who is nothing more than a left over hippie that still plays bars as a living told me that neither he nor Jim knew anything about scooters. I will admit this part they didn't lie about. They don't know anything and they don't have any parts.
Yet they advertise on eBay, which by the way Verucci says there is no warranty for ebay or internet sales, they show this nice picture of a place called Motorsports of America. Forget that picture because it never existed for us. We were directed to some L & H Distribution in some sleazy warehouse located in a bad section of Berlin N.J. Best to take your gun with you to this rat trap. They had inventory but not one part.
We never recieved the parts nor the COs after a month. So we filed a complaint with the New Jersey DMV. Interestingly enough they knew exactly who Motorsports was and they took our complaint immediately because they've had so many complaints. And worse yet there is no phone number anywhere for Motorsports of America in the phone directory for New Jersey. After 2 weeks NJ DMV tracked them down and we received our COs immediately. And check out Motorsports of America on the BBB to get a real picture of how they treat all their customers.
Filed the same complaints with Verucci who wasn't any help either. They finally did provide us with parts after we threatened to take them to court. And they were always extremely apologetic but they never never corrected their problems.
We also thought we would try to deal with the Verucci distributor in Virginia. But get this, this guy wants a bank deposit of all money in a Wachovia bank account before he'll order anything. And again you have to pick the product up in some sleazy warehouse in Baltimore, not Virginia. Again take your gun becuase this guy says he won't take cash because he doesn't even trust his help to handle the cash and he needs the money up front to place an order?? And this is a distributor??? Last time I checked distributors were supposed to stock products and take orders. This guy is nothing more than an order taker who obviously doesn't have the funds to run a legitimate distribution outlet.
Verucci must have the same requirement for of it's distributors - No money, no ethics and no parts or service and no stock necessary. Must sell our pieces of junk on the internet to avoid a warranty which we will never honor anyway. I've found most of the Chinese scooters are garbage and their distributors match perfectly.
There were plenty of red flags there that told me not to do this deal. And it's my fault for not paying attention to those red flags. I should have checked them out on the Better Business website before I purchased and I wouldn't have made the trip. I could have also called the New Jersey Consumer affiars and heard about all the complaints filed against this sleazy operation. I later found out from other dealers and distributors about the poor parts and service Verucci provides. But we initally were too anxious to get into this Chinese scooter thing before we though it might be too late.
We are still looking for quality scooters and motorcycles from China to put in our distribution and perhaps a competent distributor we can deal with. But right now it looks as though we'll have to do our own importing to achieve our goals or maybe quality and everyting else we need doesn't exist yet for China.
Remember this fact too. Our company has over 34 years in dsitribution and we really should have known better and done our homework. Almost all of the Chinese scooter distributors and dealers we have contacted act like they are the mafia's golden boys with that same meat head mentality. Almost every one of them has told us they are the biggest and largest distributors in the world and every other distributor buys their products from them. Yet 99.9% of them have only been in business for 3 years or less. WOW! Cut me a break! There's no rocket science in what any of them are doing but there sure are a lot of scams and sleazy operations. I can see why so many consumers are complaining and have gotten ripped off. It happened to us. When a person calls themselves a distributor and advertises for dealers but yet sells directly to consumers, and can't carry any size order without cash up front, it's easy to figure this ain't no real distributor. No other legitimate dealer or distributor is going to handle products that can be purchased directly by consumers for almost the same price or sold on ebay or the internet to everybody. What would be the point?
This new Chinese motor vehicle industry is still in it's infancy and there will be weeding out in the future as more of the worst Chinese manufacturers are going out of business and better distributors as well as better products are coming along with quality, parts and service. Until then check out any seller before you decide to purchase. A website can create a tremendously decieiving image and it can be very difficult to cut through all the fluff to determine who is the distributor with a great solid reputation for service and quality products and has at least 6 or more years in business and a member of the BBB or the newest meat head who tries to convince the world they're bigger than life and recreated the wheel only to rip everybody off. If you don't bother to check them out before, then like us you deserve what you get.
And if you'd like more true stories about our other experiences with other so called major distributors let me know. We've been doing a lot of homework on this subject to know what's going on out there. And right now we don't have an axe to grind or anything to sell except how to protect yourself and avoid the same porblems.

   Dan,
thanks for the input...
I totally agree with you.
I too delt with Jim pizza...what a douche!
I mean really...he isn't even smart enough to hide the fact that he is an idiot!

originonally bought a strada from philly but lived in jersey...had a hell of a time getting service. Nowhere!

I had the misfortune of dealing with promo scooters...what a joke! that company is a real shifty operation. I visulaize 4 guys sitting in a shitty apt. palying x box and answering phones.

I now live in FL. and have the perfet set up to start my own dealership...
but the right product hasn't come along. I am seriously thinking of going to china myself. I mean thats where the money is...If you can get someone to handel quality control after manufacturing...
then bring them over...it could work. really work.

if your interested in colaberating...I wouldn't mind joining forces.
email me @ inscooterhell@yahoo.com
