Just heard that France will play England for the championship. I've always enjoyed Enlgish Premier League football, but don't pretend to be that smart about it (just like my scooter) - is this the world cup? What a game this is going to be. I'll shell out $19.95 for Pay-for-View!! |

I'm a coward. I went ahead and made arrangements with someone else to come do the porch repair. Last Wednesday, the lumber was delivered (wrong porch columns, of course - they had to come pick them up,now I have to wait for some on special order). The Amish guy only charged me $300 for the materials. He said I can pay him $15.00 an hour for labor. Only, since he doesn't drive, I have to drive him back and forth. Initially, I understood him to say he had an air compressor to run a jack to break up the cement slab. The evening before he was to come down and begin work, I find out that I have to RENT both air compressor and jack hammer (!) for him. Cost = $30 for jack, $80 for air compressor, for one day, plus hitch to bring it to my house with my pickup. The weather turned nasty, so he didn't want to come. Oh, and he asked me "how much would you give me if I went after the other guy and got your money back?" I just laughed. Not sure if he's serious or not. The most stupid thing I did was write those checks out to the contractor, not his business. I think I'm screwed. |

Pretty funny. Would make good fodder (fodder -horses- get it?) for a comic book. Probably sell hundreds at the bulk food stores. P.s. I never saw an Amishman with his shirt off.....most of them boys are pretty dern good-lookin' too. Only, they just hide in cornfields and throw tomatoes and paintballs at passing cars. |
