"Ghia convertibles"
| |
How hard is it to find an early-70s Type 1 Ghia convertible in any sort of salvageable condition in the US, and what sort of price range do they sell for? I'm talking reasonably straight body, little or no structural rust, probably stuffed top, seats and trim and average-to-bad mechanicals - your classic resto project? I'm playing with the idea of importing one and, apart from private imports, they just don't exist in Australia |

Thanks for the offer, but something about buying a car I've never seen makes me break into a sweat late at night. I think this project might have to wait until I get the time and the cash to grace your shores myself.... |

A friend of mine sold his 1st year convertable Ghia to a guy in England for some crazy $$$ We know how lucky we are but still are envious of the Europeans and what options they get for Automobiles...kinda like the Holdens... 74 Rally 200 66 Blue Badge Sprint150 64 Li125 w200 63 VNB $300.00 'Barn'find Sarcastic Bastards S. Funny thing about that... there's a new model Holden Monaro out (I think you people get'em rebadged as Pontiac GTOs or something. They go like shit off a shovel but, because of sales resistance from the US secondary target market, they've had to give in to the market researchers and introduce big, fat, lairy twin bonnet scoops because the Americans won't buy it if it doesn't look "mean" enough - and I thought we were knuckledraggers (just stirring). |

Well it's all because of that NASCAR mouth breathing thing, more intelligent people know that it doesn't have to look fast, just be fast. Plus they're usually compensating for their lacking in other areas.... 74 Rally 200 66 Blue Badge Sprint150 64 Li125 w200 63 VNB $300.00 'Barn'find Sarcastic Bastards S. C. |
